Kat has worked for many years with youth and their families providing support and resources as well as therapy. Kat has an interest in movement and sensory integration to help children alleviate their symptoms and process their experiences. Kate believes that “children are not “defiant” and “oppositional”, but a product of their experiences and learned skills for survival.” She provides a sense of safety and regulation tools to children who have experienced a traumatic event or who’s behaviors are having a negative effect on their success.
Kat works from a strength based perspective, helping youth identify their strengths and needs, developing a treatment plan to fit those needs. She has background in play therapy, the Nurtured Heart Model, and Trauma and has worked as a Behavior Assistant, in Partial Care, and for DCPP. She is a knowledgeable addition to the Thrive team.
